Our Programs
Five programs designed to educate, heal, advocate, and empower women and girls through brain health.
H.E.R Brain Health Literacy
We advance women’s brain health by integrating neuroscience, public health, and trauma-informed practice, and we translate evidence into strategies that address disparities and strengthen systems of care.
Program focus includes:
- Generation and translation of evidence across neurological and mental health conditions
- Implementation of trauma-informed, gender-responsive models of care
- Prevention and early detection of brain health disorders across the life course
- Examination of social, structural, and environmental determinants influencing brain health outcomes
- Multisector collaboration with academic institutions, healthcare systems, and global partners
Our work positions brain health as a critical component of public health, advancing evidence-based solutions that improve outcomes, inform policy, and promote equity for women and girls globally.
H.E.R Advocacy
We advance evidence-informed advocacy to influence policy, strengthen systems, and address structural determinants impacting women’s brain health, safety, and well-being.
Program focus includes:
- Policy analysis and advocacy addressing gender-based violence, brain health, and health equity
- Translation of research into actionable policy recommendations and implementation strategies
- Systems-level engagement to strengthen health, legal, and social service responses
- Capacity building for stakeholders to support effective policy implementation and accountability
- Strategic partnerships with government agencies, global organizations, and community leaders
Our advocacy ensures that evidence informs decision-making, that policies are effectively implemented, and that women’s brain health and safety are recognized as public health and human rights priorities.
H.E.R Trauma Recovery & Resilience
We advance trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches to support recovery, strengthen resilience, and address the long-term neurological, psychological, and social impacts of trauma on women and girls.
Program focus includes:
- Implementation of trauma-informed and survivor-centered models of care
- Integration of neuroscience to understand the impact of trauma on brain function and behavior
- Prevention and response to gender-based violence and other forms of interpersonal trauma
- Development of resilience-focused interventions across the life course
- Capacity building for providers and communities to deliver culturally responsive, trauma-informed services
Our work centers recovery as both a clinical and public health priority, advancing approaches that promote healing, restore agency, and strengthen systems to better support women and girls affected by trauma.
H.E.R Community
We provide evidence-based education on neurological and mental health across the lifespan, with a focus on communities historically excluded from specialized care.
Program focus includes:
- Brain health literacy and prevention
- Neurological and mental health conditions affecting women
- The impact of chronic stress, trauma, and social determinants on the brain
- Culturally responsive and accessible learning formats
Education initiatives are designed for community members, clinicians, students, and advocates, translating complex science into practical, empowering knowledge.
H.E.R Voice
We elevate lived experiences to inform research, shape policy, and strengthen practice, recognizing that the voices of women and girls are essential to advancing equitable and effective brain health systems
Program focus includes:
- Amplification of lived experiences through storytelling, media, and digital platforms
- Integration of survivor and community perspectives into research, program design, and policy development
- Ethical and trauma-informed approaches to narrative sharing and representation
- Public education and dialogue to reduce stigma and increase awareness of brain health and trauma
- Collaboration with advocates, clinicians, researchers, and community leaders to center lived expertise
Our work ensures that lived experience is not peripheral but foundational—guiding how systems are designed, how care is delivered, and how policies are shaped to truly reflect the needs, realities, and strengths of women and girls.
Programs in Development
H.E.R Brain Health is actively building partnerships and initiatives. Program offerings will expand over time in response to community needs, research findings, and policy opportunities.
